Hi,
Have you tried compacting found on the file menu. Also removing the history found under the Tools menu

As a desperate measure, you could try the following.
It would be worth taking a copy of the profile folder before doing the following. This is only in case something goes wrong.

1. Backup your Thunderrbird settings with the Mozbackup utility. Don't just take a copy of the Profile folder and paste it back later. The profile folder continues to grow regardless of what you do. My Profile folder grew to around 6.5 gb but when backed up with the Mozback utility without emails and history, it came down to around 13 mb.

2. Un-install Tbird making sure the old profile folder is gone. Install the latestThunderbird with an empty profile folder. Use theMozbackup utility to put back the settings.

I recently did this to get rid of the huge profile folder.

Hi there GROUP!

It seems as though no matter what I try, including trying other
screenreaders, I continue to get ttotally frustrated with ThunderBird.
While reading messages thunderbird just stops. I press the 'ctrl+w' to
reactivate W.E. and then I have to press 'alt+F4' to wait on the program
to respond or tab to "end program'. And if I wait on the program to
retrieve new mail, this will usually unlock ThunderBird. I have tried
everything I could think of to try and fix this problem but absolutely
nothing appears to resolve this issue..? I guess I am going to have to
brake down and get Becky-eMail. Hopefully this will resolve my
issue..! Can anyone think of anything elease I can try? THANKS MUCH! de
