Here's what I do to search for files and folders in Windows 10.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where the file or subfolder 
is.  If you don't know, you can go to a folder above where you want to do your 
search.  The method I do looks in subfolders.

Press CTRL+F and you'll be placed in a search edit area.

Type all or part of the file or folder you're looking for.  As an example, I 
use this feature to look for mp3 files.  If, for example, I want to find Call 
me by Go West, I can simply type

West call

And any files or folders with west and call in their titles will be displayed 
in the list of results.

To get to the list of results, hit TAB two or three times to get there.

That's all there is to it.
