Jed,

Here's a few suggestions.

first, never turn on browse mode in a composition window. that puts it in a strange state and you have to close and reopen TB to get it back to normal.

Make the following changes.
Alt-T Tools, O Options.
Arrow down to Advanced.
Tab once and make sure you're on the General tab. If not arrow left to it.
Tab down to Use hardware acceleration when available and uncheck it if it's checked.
Tab again to the Config editor button and press the spacebar.
If a dialog pops up with a warming just tab to the I'll be careful button and press the spacebar.
You should land in a search edit box.
If by any chance you discover that browse mode is on here toggle it off.
Enter direct2d.disabled
Tab to the list of entries.
You should see gfx.direct2d.disabled true or false.
If it's false press the application key to open the context menu and press enter on Toggle to change it to true.
Shift-Tab back up to the search edit box.
 Enter layers.acceleration.disabled
Tab back down into the list.
You should see layers.acceleration.disabled true or false.
Again if it's false press the application key and toggle it to true.
Control-W to close the editor.
Tab to the OK button and press spacebar.
This should return you to the main TB window.
Cross your fingers, say a prayer, knock on wood, throw salt over your shoulder, then close TB, take a shot of Irish whiskey, and reopen TB

Hth,
Tom

message. I have no idea why
I believe browse mode is off. There are times when i'll put browse mode
on and it says not a valid key press after i do it.. In iother words i
will arrow up and down and it says not a valid key press. Any ideas

Yes Casey, the latest TBird works well with the latest WE. I have never
used the TB app for long apart from trying it out.

Do searches for Thunderbird download and Mozilla backup utility .

As for backing up Thunderbird settings, just copy the Profile
folder, location mentioned in my original message, which contains all
the settings. Unfortunately this folder contains copies of previously
deleted messages and continues to grow. Check the size occasionally and
you will see what I mean.

Use the Mozilla utility to get rid of these old messages.

Hi where do you get the latest version of Thunderbird from?
Also do you use it with window-eyes the latest version of window-eyes?
If so do you have when you open A message when it starts reading.
Deos it start reading and then repete the first few words of the message
again or the first line of the message when it was already reading?
Now you say to bacfk up your Thunderbird.
Can you please give step by step instructions on how to do that.
thank you and have A nice day.
