with me i have to turn auto load and browse mode off before i open the bookmark
list with control i or else w e will hang for about a minute before i can do
anything else.

use control i then the bookmark list will stay opened. then you can go through
the list and delete them with the delete key, or mass delete by hi lighting the
ones you want then delete.
