The Windows key should place you in the Cortana search box. If it doesn't then something is wrong. From that search box all I have to do is Shift-Tab once to Start, and arrow down to open the list of programs. Then I can press a single letter to go to that group of programs. But with that having had been said, I went through a lot of house cleaning on the start menu in Windows 10. For the most part it was in settings, Personalization, Start. I pretty much turned everything off.
The privacy settings are also in the settings window.
Open the settings window with Windows-I. If you're running the Windows 10 anniversary update you'll come in on a search box. Shift-Tab once to move up to the list view and then arrow right/left through the main categories.

Hi:

Previousley, in windows 10 and win eyes latelst, I could find the edit box
to do a search.

Now, I can't find it or anything close

I thought pressing the windows key would bring it up

I can find the start button in the task bar but can't open it

I would like to find the privacy settings with searching but cannot find
anywhere to search.

This confusion seems to be with the last two updates.

Also, previousley, somewhere you could find a key or keystrokes and find a
list of your programmes in a list

Hope I have not confused the issue, but, windows 10 has gone screwy for me.
