Hi Steve, I have a Windows 7 machine here as well as a Windows 10 machine and they are networked to each other. The thing is that, on the Windows 7 machine, when I open Network and arrow through the list of PCs, the two machines show up, but they don't appear as branches in a tree called Home Group, well, not until I click on the word Home Group which is in the header area near the top of the window.
I hope this helps explain the situation a bit. I thought he might be disconnected because I have never had to click on Home Group to get to it from Windows Explorer, I have always been able to arrow to it just over "My Computer," and understanding this better may save me time later. The problem is a display issue within the Network window. With Network open, route your mouse pointer to the top left of the Network window, and then use the mouse line down command to come down one line at a time until you find Home Group. When you find it, use the mouse left-click button to click it, and then you'll see the computers in the Home Group lined up under each other. Note that this is a tree view, and so the Network screen is attempting to arrange the various devices within the different networks which you are connected to hierarchically. I made the mistake of opening network on my 7 machine when one of the others on the home group was rebooting. Now, my network on the 7 machine is only showing the netwokr group, not the computers on the home group in the network window. I have tried rebooting, refreshing and to no avail. I need this network to be working properly as I move files around the pc's when editing and so on. Can anyone help and tell me how to get the computers in the home hgroup to re appear in the network window please. I am confident it was something that happened due to me iopening network at the wrong time. it must have caused an effect. Please help. smiles. thanks ] _______________________________________________ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
