Brenda, I had quite a different experience a couple weeks ago, I called
and actually got hold of Dave from AiSquared. I have Kaspersky on my
system and have been using it since 2012 and have had no real issues at
all. The only thing about Kaspersky is that you need some sighted
assistance in getting it set up. But once it is, it is more or less a
self-sufficient program. I have had no real virus on my system accept
for a couple miner issues which I took care of as soon as I knew of
them. I don't remember what my license for one year cost, but it really
wasn't all that much.
Just some info, Good Luck! de

Hello List
Well, just for fun I called VFO today to see what they thought would
be a good security software to run with Window-eyes.
When I first called, I pressed 2 for tech support, then the choice for
jaws support press 1, zoomtext 2 and all other software 3. I guess
Window-eyes is all other software - not a good feeling.
While waiting on hold for at least 45 minutes, I heard a revolving ad
for various JFS/OPTELEC products. Not a word about Window-eyes
capabilities etc.
I spoke with a person who worked out of her home. I have gotten folks
that worked from home before. My thought is that they can't transfer
you to anyone else if they can't help you, and they don't have
day-to-day contact with other support people. she told me she is a
jowls user but all support people had to learn Window-eyes, and she
has it on her computer so she can help window-eyes users. I asked if
there were any tech support people who were very familiar with
Window-eyes, and she thought a "Dave" worked for VFO. I asked about
tech people using the remote assistance portion of Window-eyes, and
she said that was possible if needed. the Initial tech support person
would send a request to someone who would call back. (this could slow
down getting something resolved.)
So then I asked about security software. She was very positive toward
Windows Defender. she said she used vipre but didn't have window-eyes
on the computer that Vipre was on in order to help me with any
issues. She said AVG had an issue where it made jowls 18
nonfunctional. She said AVG was telling people the only way to get
the issue fixed was to have many effected users call AVG. Back in the
day, GW seemed to connect with AVG and had gotten a similar issue
resolved for Window-eyes users.
As for Kaspersky, she said it might disrupt Window-eyes, although she
didn't really say for sure and didn't seem to know that much about the
program.
Just thought I'd share my day's experience.
