Having NVDA be purchased by VFO would be quite telling, wouldn't it. NVDA isn't yet in the same class of screen Reader as JAWS, so the VFO folks may not bother with NVDA, thinking it isn't much of a threat, and are only used by those who couldn't ever afford JAWS.
Let's not forget that NVDA also suffers from the same Cash Flow problems GW Micro did. NVDA survives because they receive grant money, and other support from other sources of money. And then there is the Donations that come in from actual users of NVDA, which I have a suspicion, is not all that much.
