This concerns me lots. I depend on screen reader access, not only at home, but also at school. The next time I need the technical people on campus to make a computer in a classroom accessible for me, just what am I supposed to tell them? Window-eyes is really all I've ever known! Certainly I've used Jaws here and there, but I can't afford to purchase Jaws. I can't afford the high price, and I certainly wouldn't want to put my school in a financial bind, by expecting them to purchase such a high-priced screen reader. I've heard of VFO's prices, and they're outrageous!
