And to add to my previous email, here's the podcast I encourage everyone to
listen to and maybe you'll understand the whole concept why VFO did what
they did. Thanks.

Brian: firstly - I'm reinforcing the points which others have made. This
is not a scam, and Doug and Aaron continue to lead support for Window-eyes
at VFO.
Now for the list.
I agreed with VFO (verbally) that I would not discuss this until VFO
released its official announcement.
I was not coerced into any such agreement, and for the events i'm about to
describe - I was not paid.
Some of you may remember that my third attempt at contactingt VFO was
shared with the list. I asked for my email to go to a senior person -
Chief Executive or similar.
Now: way back when, as early as July or August, staffers at VFO encouraged
us to write to VFO expressing our concerns, raising suggestions etc. How
many did that? And unlike me - how many of you were persistent?
Several days after sending my third email mentioned above, I received
constructive email feedback from Eric Damery, anbd we skyped for about 45
minutes so that VFO could be assured that I would accept its offer.
I was pleased to contribute to the latest FS Cast, in which this offer is
discussed, and i've commented on my early experiences with JAWS. A list
member took the time to thank me for taking a stand.
Brian and others: if you want to believe this is a scam - it is your right
to do so. However: you cannot get away with calling people liars. In
fact: I am satisfied that Doug fought the good fight on behalf of long
serving Window-Eyes customers. He at least should be respected for doing
so. Doug and Aaron seem likely to be continuing to work in this industry.
Taking up the offer is voluntary and in the short term, if you meet its
conditions, JFW won't cost you a thing.

I'm not altogether optimistic about the future of Window-Eyes, but at the
same time I'm not going to stop using it unless I absolutely have to. As
for this supposed offer of free copies of JFW for WE users I'm pretty
sure it's a scam. I have a hard time imagining FS giving anyone free
copies of JAWS under any circumstances. As for which screen reader I
might switch to it probably wouldn't be JAWS, partly because I can't seem
to download a demo of the latest version to try before I buy, but also
because it's an absolute resource hog. I remember that from the twelve
years I used it before switching to WE.
Focus your powers and prepare for buttle.

I'm not planning on switching to Jaws any time soon! We works better
and takes less overhead! And, I like the Butch timer app too!

I plan to keep using window-eyes as long as it works. They're not going
to make it diappear. If it gets to a point where I must switch to
something else, I'll go with n v d a. I suspect window-eyes will do much
of what I need it to do for some time even if they stop selling and
developping it.
