I totally agree here. All of this is so bittersweet. I was here at work and it was difficult not to cry. I have worked with various of the staff at GW Micro closely over the years on beta testing and qualified an agency for the blind as a dealer awhile back. I will so miss Window-Eyes and how responsive it is and how attentive Doug and others are to our suggestions. I have stronger thoughts too which I will withhold as I don't want to flame here. Still, this is so difficult to accept. If this were a large corporate organization, there would be other possibilities as a means to protest and that's the strongest statement I'll make. I just wish I could wake up tomorrow morning and realize this wasn't so.

Hi Dave, Well said! I don't want to make the change back to Jaws, especially since they were the opposission, but since it's free, I will try it. But like you, I can be as grumpy as I like about the switch! I guess I will be on that Jaws list, too. For what it's worth, the offer to Upgrade to JAWS for Free is a very good offer. The Brass at JAWS did not need to do this. Sure moving over to Jaws requires a bit of effort on our part. We do need to learn a new keyboard layout, and some of those keys might not be as easy as the Window Eyes layout, but at this Time you have three choices. Stay with Window Eyes, go with Jaws and put out a little effort to learn a few new Key Commands, or move over to NVDA where you will also need to learn a few new Commands. Hey, I get it, I too am reluctantly moving over to JAWS, after all they were the oppisition, and if I end up not liking it, I can then move to NVDA, which I intend to continue to use so I can come up to speed with its method of reading the screen. I figure Jaws will give me a few pleasant surprises, that I actually will like, and of course there will be those places where something doesn't make sense, and might even seem stupid. For me the New way Window Eyes 9.X Copied text from a Web Page would fall into that category. I didn't like it much, but I learned to use it and it worked for the most part. So, figure out what Key Commands you use all the time in Window Eyes, and then find out what the corresponding Key Commands would be in Jaws. What are we talking about here 10 to 15 commands? Perhaps even less. And I am not talking about the entire range of Key commands found in Window Eyes, but just the ones you use every day. There will be a difference, probably a big difference. Others on this list and on the Jaws list will be willing to provide all of us Jaws Virgins to make the change over in Style. At this point, I'll give the Free Upgrade to Jaws a try, and do what it takes to learn a few new key commands to at least be able to navigate around a bit in all the programs I currently use.
