Here are the contents of two pages I found. I don't care about the peer
to peer support. But the non-tandem builds also lack the ability to
check for updates via the Help menu. Does JAWS check for updates itself
and notify you?
1. Downloading JAWS without JAWS Tandem
If you are on a network that does not allow remote access applications,
you can download a separate version of JAWS that does not include the
JAWS Tandemâ„¢ feature. However, if this restriction does not apply to
you, please download and use the normal JAWS release, which does include
JAWS Tandem. Remember that a big advantage of using JAWS Tandem is the
ability to receive or provide hands-on technical support from support
technicians, distributors, dealers, and consultants.
The following are differences between the non-Tandem version of JAWS and
the regular JAWS release:
The JAWS Tandem submenu under the Utilities menu is not available.
The Check for Updates function under the Help menu is not available.
You cannot install a non-Tandem version of JAWS over the regular JAWS
release. Remove the JAWS Tandem release first before installing the
non-Tandem release. Note that you do not have to remove your shared
component settings during the uninstall process.
2. JAWS Tandem Quick Start Guide
Use JAWS Tandemâ„¢ to access another computer running JAWS to provide
hands on technical support, write scripts from a distance, or perform
remote JAWS training. This feature consists of a controller system, used
by support personnel, distributors, dealers, consultants, and trainers,
and a target system, which is the customer's JAWS application and
computer. JAWS Tandem Center is a subscription service on the controller
side only. This means that ultimately, there will be a charge for anyone
acting as a controller. There will not be a fee for the customer getting
the support, acting as the target computer. The initial release of JAWS
10 is providing this subscription service free of charge for all
customers wishing to act as a controller for a period of time yet to be
determined.

Tom

I guess this was too simple to explain on the download page.
Thanks,
