Thanks for the clarification. This is, unfortunately, not a simple subject. I did not know that CONTROL-F brings up the JAWS dialog in Internet Explorer. INSERT-CONTROL-F seems to also bring it up for me. Internet Explorer also has a find command that is initiated by CONTROL-F, but the JAWS Find overlays it. That is good since the JAWS Find in this case will search the entire virtual buffer which is probably what one wants.
However, in Word, I find that CONTROL-F brings up the Word search dialog, but that is probably the best one to use in word. INSERT-CONTROL-F still brings up the JAWS Find command for me. There are some differences between the two dialogs so it is good to know which is being used. I don't mean to seem to be splitting hairs, it is worth knowing which command is being used. In addition, I want to know if I am wrong. If one goes to the JAWS screen with JAWSKEY plus j, then to the Utilities Menu, there is a "Search for Command" utility that can be very useful.
