I have been a long time JAWS user, and when the free offer for Microsoft office came out, I switched to window-eyes, bought me eloquence and dectalk, and stopped using JAWS. Before that, I started playing with NVDA but because I had used JAWS since 2000, it was hard to let it go. While I am the most comfortable with JAWS, and window-eyes was right behind it, I'm starting to pay more attention to NVDA, and regret that JAWS is the option we're all supposed to go too. There is also serotek's system access, and Dolphin's screen reader, and now that I think about it Screen reader and JAWS are about the same in features now. Both of them have the capability of doing almost everything the other can do, except perhaps, getting material from book share. Besides, the voices you now would be owning, are SAPI versions, meaning you could use them under any software; Like NVDA. Go to Jaws, and sure you will get a number of voices and a couple of synths to choose from - but they are all incorporated with your Jaws, and can only be used under that screen reader. Unfortunately, you sooner or later will have to deal with the fact of WinEyes dropping. We are quite a number who understand your frustration, and from time to time feel somehow similar. And things doesn't get much better, when you are forced on Win10, whenever upgrading to new computers. OK, they say the world is moving ahead, but sometimes we all wish it had moved a bit slower.
