Bernie,
I don't know what file or files the contacts are in. But all I do is
backup the following folder on a regular basis so I'll have it when I
need it. For example, I just got a new system a few weeks ago, installed
TB, renamed the default Thunderbird folder to Thunderbird.bak just in
case, and then replaced it with the backup.
C:\Users\Tom Kingston\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
I've done this several times and it always works perfectly.
