Thanks for everyone’s help. No, I didn’t delete any PROGDATA folders. I just deleted the McAfee folder in one of them. Many of the antivirus programs require one to use a file from their web site to remove them completely. I rememver having to do this with Norton because even though I wasn’t running it, there were components in my system. They required a captcha so I needede sighted assistance to do it. I was able to remove Essett successfully before getting Vipre. Apparently, I had received some promotional material from McAffee, but the program was not in Programs and Features.
