thanks, i got it working.
i did all of this.
when w e loaded and on the desktop the file that w e said is associated when i first open the w e control panel was windowslivemail.set
but the file that was showing in current associations was explorer.set.
not windowslivemail.set. so i could not disassociate it.
i found out that even though explorer.set was shoing in current associations it showed it was set to none. once i told it to use by class and saved it. it is useing the explorer.set file every time now when i first load w e.

Hi Netbat,

First, ensure that Show Advanced Options is checked on the Help menu within the WE control panel.
Place focus on the desktop, and then open the WE control panel.
Press A to highlight the Association node within the treeview.
Press right arrow to expand the Association node, and then right arrow again to highlight Current Association.
Press Tab twice to place focus on the Association By combo box.
Press down arrow twice to select None.
Tab once to place focus on the Save and Associate button, and then press the spacebar to activate it.
Press Escape to close the WE control panel, and your task is complete.

Hth,

Rod

if theres anyone left. grin
i have w e 9.5?
i have a minor problem when w e first loads with windows 7.
it loads with the windows live mail set file when it gets to the desktop or
when on the desktop and i manually reload w e.
i have to open the w e control panel and close it. then the explorer set file
will become the associated set file.
when i open the w e control panel it says windowslivemail.set is loaded and is
the associated set file.
but when i get to the file associations menu it says explorer is the loaded
set file and this is the one associated.
i can disassociate this and it will use default.set and mone. but w e still
loads with the windowslivemail.set file every time i boot to the desktop or
reload w e after i am on the desktop.
i can't disassociate the windowslivemail and start over.
thanks if there is anyone out there.
