You will be alerted. At least, I was. A choice appeared in the Windows Shut-Down dialog. However, when I pressed "Update and Restart," the update didn't take place. I pressed the Windows key to get the search box and started typing "update." I pressed Enter and was placed in the Update dialog. I then pressed "Check for Updates." At that point, I was given several choices including "Restart Now," Restart Later," and I believe, "Schedule Restart." I was told that the update was ready to install, and Windows needed my help to proceed. . I pressed "Restart Now." With some fear and trepidation, I waited for my PC to do something. After about 20 minutes, it seemed to chirp back to life. Everything seems fie now. Keep in mind that your results may differ if your updates are set to "Automatic." Mine are not. I believe that is still possible in Windows 10. I have Windows 10 Home edition. The Pro edition may have more options. Other listers may be able to shed additional light on this.
