Hi Jim,
I just did a quick search trying to find where I turned off cortana's
web searching option, but I couldn't find it. Perhaps a Google search
will give you the answer.
As for desktop icons? If I remember right they were turned off by
default. Open Cortana and start typing Themes. Themes and related
settings should pop up. Press enter to open it. Then tab down until you
get to related settings: desktop icon settings. Press enter.
This puts you in a group of check boxes you can arrow up and down
through. Computer is the one you want. It should appear as "This PC" on
your desktop.
And David is correct. Windows+E opens the tree view version of Explorer.
You can also use the Windows+R (run) shortcut and enter, for example, C:
to go to the route of the C drive, or, C:\FolderName to go to that folder.
Hth,
Tom

I recently got a new computer running windows 10. I have installed
Window-eyes 9.541 on it and have it working. What I find when I go to
the start menu and try to type a program to run courtona pops up wanting
to search the web. Can I turn this feature off or where can I search
for such items? Also having problems getting to my computer to access
drives and U S B drives.
Would like to create a shortcut for this.
Please advise.
