Hi: I think Window-Eyes 3.1 may have been the last version to support Windows 3.1.
The funny thing about it is that the demo from GW Micro was a self-extracting setup file, but, I couldn't get it to run under Win 3.1 I had to use Winrar to extract the contents of the demo and I was able to run it from the extracted files. I do have a copy of my CD, so it wasn't an issue, I just wanted to contrast the two versions. Windows 3.1 was on the way out when Window-Eyes 3.1 was released, so I guess they weren't too worried about it anyway. I got it working with both Text Assist and KeyNote Gold MultiMedia, under Windows 3.1, so those are the 2 software speech options, and Text Assist depended on you having a Sound Blaster card. I did buy KeyNote Gold MultiMedia, but, lost my floppy in a housefire in 2007, but, that wouldn't have mattered, as I have no floppy drive now anyway, so I just used the demo to prove it worked. -----Original Message----- From: Talk <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Sky Mundell via Talk Sent: Saturday, September 26, 2020 12:58 AM To: 'Window-Eyes Discussion List' <[email protected]> Cc: Sky Mundell <[email protected]> Subject: RE: A little sound from the past, sort-of. Very Good Joseph! Love it! How did you get Window-Eyes 3.1 installed on windows 3.1? -----Original Message----- From: Talk [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Joseph Norton via Talk Sent: Friday, September 25, 2020 8:31 PM To: 'Window-Eyes Discussion List' Cc: [email protected] Subject: A little sound from the past, sort-of. Crank up your stereo and check this Wav file out. It's Window-Eyes 3.1, running under Windows 3.1, and it's using Text Assist. I even unload Window-Eyes and let Text-Assist do one of it's singing demo files. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdv7xg5092ltol1/command_000.wav?dl=1 Enjoy! _______________________________________________ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
