Hi Jim, There were several versions of the last version of window eyes since one had an expired security certificate which needed to be replaced. So, if they are attempting to install one of the erroneous ones, then they would be out of luck. I know that window eyes is no longer being supported, but it is worth a call to Vispero and see if they can give your friend a download link to an archive of The absolute last version of your friends retail copy.
