+1 for me as well, although defining emergency management as a domain
might be a bit too restrictive; in the end this is only a part of the
potential users group, which may be a good early adopter, I'm just not
sure if you want to define the end-users group this restrictive at this
point in time....

Many thanks again to those who were in on the conference call on
Thursday and to those who took part in the Random Hacks of Kindness
event over the weekend.
One of the items that we talked considerably about was getting some
minimal initial governance set up for the project
(http://wiki.openaerialmap.org/OpenAerialMap_Future_Directions#Achieving_Consensus.2C_Initial_Governance).
One item that was brought up was the importance of having both domain
expertise (RS/GIS, Emergency Management, Web Developers) and
programming expertise on the steering group.
I would like to put forward the following proposal to bootstrap a
Project Steering Committee (many of these ideas are not my own and
were culled from the conversations last week). I am looking for the
traditional +1,0,-1 to this proposal. Amendments are welcome but
wholly different ideas should be given on a separate thread. Do not
give a -1 unless you are ready to create an alternate proposal.
I would like to begin a call for nominations beginning Monday,
November 23rd. At that time a form will be placed on the wiki to fill
in nomination details. Before nominating a candidate, the nominator
is encouraged to check with the nominee for an indication of
willingness to serve. Self nominations are acceptable. The form will
consist of two columns: nominee and reasons for nomination.
Additional comments in the reasons for nomination are encouraged.
Nominations will be open for one week.
If on November 30th there are 5 or fewer nominations, those nominees
will make up the initial PSC. If there are more, we will seek a party
with no interest (ie not a nominee or nominator) to act as the
election judge and voting will be open for one week (closing December
7th).
Before the end of the year the newly appointed PSC will have the
responsibility to seek out and appoint no more than four additional
members to ensure a distribution of the identified disciplines on the
committee.
