"to install and display maps" is a very broad term. Display maps how? What level of customisation is required? For just rendering, the mapnik wiki page seems comprehensive. - http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Mapnik For the data storage and apis, the rails port is also (fairly) well documented on it's respective page. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/The_Rails_Port With no knowledge of rails/ruby I was able to easily get the rails port running (under OpenBSD, of all things). I'm planning to take a look at mapnik sometime, since I want to do some custom renderings. I've tweaked Erik's wiki page a bit for wiki syntax, clarity and to point to the OL simple example, rather than saying "copy code from the osm frontpage". -- Regards, Thomas Wood (Edgemaster) _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk
