we have to cope with the fact that this is a volunteer project. People will always tag differently. IMO it's not a severe problem if there are a couple of parking lots which are mapped both as an area and a node. We do the same for several other areas as well, including nodes for places which are surrounded by a landuse=residential name=foo polygon.
