The same question has just, again, popped up on the talk-de list. The map rectifier is one option. Another option is using the UMN MapServer as a WMS server, it can load and serve the orthorectified images. The procedure is a bit complicated but people have done it successfully, I can find out the details if required. The third option is doing some programming based on the WMS plugin and append functionality to load images from files; should not be too difficult, if there's anyone with Java skills tell them to contact me an I'll help them set up the dev environment.
