I doubt we'll know for sure, but like other incidents in my area, I don't think this was deliberate vandalism, I suspect it was someone who didn't know what they were doing, maybe didn't know they were making live changes. This one differs in that it is quite extensive, but since all the changes were based on existing nodes, I doubt there was any surveying involved - it looks to me like someone thought it would be a good idea to change their favourite route to a cycleway, and trampled on anything connecting to it along the way.
