I notice that 'railway=spur' is used a lot in the tiger data. Here is an example (where the railway continues north out of Davis as a 'spur').

Voting is open at it was approved by a number of people in Feb 08 (with a few criticisms as well): (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Proposed_features/Service) Can we get this agreed and into the rendering soon.
