India is primarily Garmin country too in dedicated GPS(Destinator 7), but with mobile phone related GPS coming up, and other PDA based GPS systems coming up, there is increased demand for Route66 and IGo. In dedicated GPS systems Blaupunkt is making big inroads, as their pricing is good, and they have a tie up with the german manufactures, and the other common GPS system used is Magellan. Infact, I found a lot of Magellan in California.
As for me personally, I have a lowrance(lcm maps), but converting garmin format to lowrance is not really a big problem, so I do fine. Magellan guys have the toughest job, first you convert to polish format, then shapefile and them magellen img I can probably talk to other on the talk-in list, and get a clear cut idea about what else is common apart from garmin.
