Hello, I'm developing a tool for viewing the open streetmap in a nice standalone gtk-application for linux.
A first release is available for download at http://gosm.sf.net . It's licenced under the terms of GPLv3. Currently, as a linux user you can just download the app and try it out by extracting the tarball and running the executable found there. The dependencies can be found on the website and you'll propably have to install additive libraries, which should be delivered along with your distribution. The current features are: - browsing the map - caching tile-data for offline-use - creating larger images(pngs) from regions (even very large ones) - measuring distances of paths planned features are: - downloading vector data from within the tool - start a rendering process for downloaded vector data - ... Your free to contribute ideas or code that should be integrated. It's implemented in C using gtk, glib, libcurl, libnpng & libwebkit.
