Hi all I would like to build an OSM printed paper globe. It should be made out of 2 sheets of A3 paper - A3 (297mm × 420mm) is the maximum size the color printer is able to handle.
The globe will be a Dodecahedron http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodecahedron Or maybe this form: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.3d-meier.de/Videos/Polyeder/15/AbDodekaeder.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.3d-meier.de/Videos/Polyeder/Seite15.html&usg=__YdORVm45rwP0Cs4J4iZ0hOXArm0=&h=1024&w=1280&sz=76&hl=en&start=10&um=1&tbnid=-SzJGKkmbib2NM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3DDodekaeder%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dcom.ubuntu:de:official%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1 I already found a similar project: http://www.ii.uib.no/~arntzen/kalender/ Now the problem: How can I do that? How to print the OSM Map to my Dodecahedron? I can't use the normal tiles - they have wrong projection. For me that looks like lots of mathematics. I think PDF or PS (Vector data) would be better print quality than JPG. Maybe there is a genius out there who is able to provide a pdf. thanks Bernhard _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
