This is an awesome idea. I'd like to see the OSM Foundation running something like this. Without a co-ordinated effort, Google have a great chance of winning the hearts and minds of mappers in developing countries. Its exactly the same tactic as Microsoft or Oracle flooding universities with free / cheap versions of their software.
Alternatively the OSM-F could lend some marketing help to Mikel & co whose Map Kibera initiative no doubt inspired Google's mapping bus. http://mapkibera.org/ -- Nick On Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 5:33 AM, Roy Wallace <[email protected]> wrote: > Apparently, OSM is lacking a bus: > http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/2009/12/mapping-india-on-googles-internet-bus.html > > _______________________________________________ > talk mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk > -- -- Nick Black twitter.com/nick_b _______________________________________________ talk mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
