Hi Y'all
I know some of the folks organizing RHoK so I'll find out more details about
the bounds of projects and post back to the list later today.

I get the feeling that anything OSM related is fine. If anyone wants to do an
OSM specific event that is tied to Random Hacks of Kindness let me know and
I'll help make the connections and get resources appropriated for refreshments
etc, if possible.

I have been watching this closely over the last few weeks and trying to
interject OSM into the conversation as much as possible without over stepping.
The way I see it, the more we are involved the better, especially considering
the great work that was done by the HOT team. OSM is not currently a partner
but I see no reason why the community can't overwhelm them with our size and
talent if community members decide that's the way they want to go. At the very
least it ensures that MapMaker and other closed maps are not worked on during
the event or move in on the work HOT has done :)

"Or if contributing to large existing projects is out-of-scope, then
how about a simple website that you can paste in urls of tileservers
and KML files that are then displayed together. So I can view
arbitrary KML files over any OSM-based tile background, without having
to edit any html/js"

Andy, this is a great idea! I'll pass it on to the organizers if its ok with
you.

Here is a link to some of the other projects that are being worked on during
the event: http://www.rhok.org/problem-definitions/full-list/

You'll notice that quite a few of the projects are also things CrisisCommons
has been working on. They are an operational partner in RHoK and helped decide
what would be worked on during the event. That said, anyone can work on
anything they want. Its totally open so have at it! :)

Best,
Thea
