So thanks to everybody for the feedback. In the meanwhile the user of the changeset has agreed to revert all of his changesets for the area. But on the other hand user zors1843 has reverted the changeset affecting the coastline. So now I guess I'll simply leave things as they are - I think any further attempts to revert changesets would be problematic.
