I think it's mostly because of its popularity and the second thing is that
MapMaker seems easier to handle than the OSM editing tools.

I read about this a few minutes ago and as I  compared GMaps with OSM i
couldn't stand that they mapped the party founding monument more precisely.
So I decided to change this. =)
