If comparing editors, there's also the fact that iD users tend to save much more often than JOSM users, making smaller changesets. Give a description of what you worked on for an hour ? Sure. Give 20 descriptions of what you worked on for an hour ? It gets boring quickly. When you save often, you tend to write much smaller comments, or reuse the same vague comment for many changesets.
