I was talking to someone who worked with one of the Agencies that used the data in the field and he was saying how great it was.
However he said that the map started to appear after three of four days which struck me as a little odd. I understood HOT starts very quickly within hours and since we have mappers around the world working odd hours there should be something happening very quickly in the database. However the rendering means that tiles have to get refreshed, data has to be packaged for OSMAND etc. Is there a way the tiles and packaging for HOT areas given priority and done more frequently or is this already being done? I also note that in Haiti a sensefly eBee UAV has been used to collect aerial imaging for OSM mapping. I assume that the procedures have been worked out to use this device. Could one of the partner agencies UN, or someone with a bit of cash, be approached to arrange for one to be part of the initial deployment when a new area to be HOT mapped is decided on? Many Thanks Cheerio John
