Identifying is simple, but what to do with those elements is much more complicated. Sorry, but foo=dismantled and end_date=* have a lot of issues, they're not good enough. So far we've avoided the problem by sticking to the "we map the present" principle (meaning stuff that no longer exists gets deleted).
