bis auf den Kernel (2.4.3) und Distribution (Slackware 7.1) haben wir die gleiche
Konfiguration.
hier meine Kernelkonfig:
PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) Support - fest
PPP Support for async Serial Ports - Modul
PPP Support for sync tty Ports - Modul
PPP Deflate Compression - Modul
PPP BSD-Compress Compression - Modul
PPP over Ethernet (Experimental) - Modul
-----------------------
Compilieren:
make dep
make clean
make bzImage
make modules
make modules_install
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz
cp /usr/src/linux/System.map /boot
depmod -a
lilo (anpassen und ausf�hren)
reboot.

Ich hatte auch mal das gleiche Problem - bei mir lag's an der falschen pppd Version...
vielleicht es dir weiter
