Nokia just said a software issue it just would not connect to any web site
through my wireless LAN. As you can imagine the tech was very sceptical
when I told him this. I just told him if you don't believe me try it on
your network. About 5 minutes when past, he returned and said
"you are right." he went on I was certain it would be a problem with your
LAN. I think on Friday they installed the e72 software instead of the
e72-2. Anyway it was the most amazing thing because the internet utility in
the e72 could connect to the net but if you entered a web address the error
Invalid server name would come up.
even thing like software update and mobile weather would not work but I
could see by the status bar it was connected.
Web addresses worked fine when using the carrier's access point. Nokia have
3 wireless networks at Parramatta and the tech tried accessing web addresses
and using net related apps on the phone on 2 of the 3 networks. Normally it
takes 1 to 2 days to fix the phones but after telling me this he asked if I
had another phone I could use when I replied he said they would have it
ready at 5.30 today.
He showed the problem to 3 other techs who had not seen it either and
informed me I may have discovered a "software issue."
I requested they not save the carriers config messages as I had noted the
info from the 9 fields of each of 3 access points and I wish to create the
destinations and access points manually as I don't want Telstra's protected
settings on my phone. They said they would try and remove the destinations
for me and it seems they were successful because when I put the sim in a
text message arrived a few seconds after I turned on the phone. Hopefully
they have fixed it this time but I won't know till I get talks happening and
set up my wlan access point.

Subject: [Talks] sim card in e72
Nokia have hopefully fixed my e72. I know this is silly but I can't
remember which way the sim card goes in I thought the angled corner
should be on the right pointing to the bottom of the phone but then the
side of the sim card with the chip is facing toward the back of the phone
and not the front. so do I have the card the right way with the angled
corner on the right hand side of the battery compartment facing away from
the power button or toward the bottom of the phone?
Thanks in advance.
