you should try out the telexy software as it is so much better and fully
accessible. You can trial it free I think for 14 days. Not only does it
give you full network access just as if your phone was a laptop you can also
play audio and video files on your phone where ever they are on your LAN.
Not only are all these nice features available at home you can access your
full home LAN from anywhere including playing multi media files. So if you
were out and realized you forgot to copy a book on to your phone before you
left home you can access your home network using secure protocol listen to a
few seconds of the book to check it's what you want then copy it to your
phone.
You can configure shared drives on the telexy software's home screen so you
don't have to open the entire network.
All the other packages I've looked at and that only offer half of what
telexy does are just terrible re accessibility.
the name of this network suite as several programs are installed is
Sym NC version 1.00.59
If you email me off list I can send you the installer. To try it out you
will need to download a trial licence. The install process will take you
right through it and download and install your trial license.
They developed a smaller package a few years ago with less features and a
separate installer for the secure protocol but Nokia purchased it outright
so they could not develop it further. Anyway the new software is much
better. You can access the shared drives or folders of your phone from your
pc just as if it were another computer on your LAN.
In my view it leaves the competition for dead.

Subject: [Talks] Orb remote Access Software
Does anybody have experience of using Orb? Do you know whether it is
accessible on both PC and phone using Talks?
According to Wikipedia orb is freeware remote access software which allows
sharing of files not just between PCs but phones as well. Nokia is
mentioned
as a typical phone which can run Orb software. As I already have a home
network set up it would be useful to be able to link the phone into this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orb_(software)
According to this article you can use your phone to access your PC files
on
a wireless LAN directly using a file explorer type application. Files
can be shared over remote locations without having to upload them to a
server.
To gain remote access to your files away from home , you have to send an
email with a link to each device .
Sounds useful, but only if it will work with Talks and a screenreader on
the
PC.
