Hello, Eleanor, If you mean the "^" being over the 6 on the QWERTY keyboard, it has no relevance in English that I am aware of. It is an accent mark used in French over an "E" followed by a "T" as being the most common use.
It is called a carrot symbol, at least that is what I know it as.
