Just to help people out! If you payed for 3.5x of Talks! then upgrading to
Talks 5.x is free. This is in the release notes file of Talks. If you got
your license in November 2007 or after that, for Talks 3.5x, then you can
upgrade to Talks 5.x for free. Talks 3.5x came out in November of 2007.
Cut and pasted lines from the Release Notes file for Talks 5.20.
Version 5.20 is a free upgrade for all Premium Edition licenses generated
after November 13th, 2007 (the release date of TALKS 3.50 for 3rd Edition).
In particular, this means that it can be installed by any customer who is
currently able to run version 4.11 or 5.01 without requiring a new license.

Eleanor,
of course not, the Talks upgrade right is based on the last time you bought
a paid license, either a full premium one or an upgrade or transfer.
so someone last buying at the v3.x stage of Talks, may have got a free
update to v4.x but certainly wouldn't get one to v5.x.
but someone buying v4.x, a day before v5.x came out, they naturally would
get the update for free.
the best solution is to always contact either your dealer or another dealer
to ask if you are entitled or not.

Surely Neil version 4 came out within the period of time where one qualifies

that depends, it is not always free, it will depend on when you bought your
license, and any subsequent upgrades.
if you either contact your dealer or e-mail [email protected] with your
IMEI number, we can check for you if the upgrade is free or not.
