I've never installed firmware, like, ever. I know there's risk of losing stuff. What do I need to backup/protect before I do it? I'm a chicken, buckbuckbuckock. and I assume I do it through the firmware updater once I'm ready to, gulp, do it?

In your case Carin I would try to update your firmware on your N86. The latest firmware is 30.009. Then after doing that, I would go ahead and install Talks 5.21.3.

What is the firmware on your N86? This can be found by doing a *#0000# that is Star Pound/Hash/Number 0 0 0 0 Pound/Hash/Number from the standby screen. The standby screen is the screen that you are at when your phone first come up to with the name of the cell provider that you are using.

What phone are you using? Is this an officially supported phone, i.e.
it's called out in the Talks read me file? Also, what version of Talks
are you running? Does this happen on every web page or just one in
particular?

Yup, put the dunce cap on my head. I'm completely mystified. I tried
hitting select to enter the edit field. It said text. But all the keys that allow you to move from heading to table etc. kept doing their job. I eventually had to disable Talks, turn the phone off, turn it back on
and let a sightling enter the edit fields. Buh! What on God's green
earth am I missing? I've quickly tried to look through the manual, and
have found nada.

Hoping there's a real simple answer and I'm sure there is.
