I have come across this power saving in both the above phones but not in earlier models. I think when I got all mixed up with my E7 last month and could not even get it charging up for over a week, I had done something re this power saving mode. Now I just keep saying I do not want power saving mode when the battery runs low. There is obviously some advantage to it though, I expect it is like sleep mode on the PC. My sleep mode on the PC never works out great for me either at least in terms of my access technology, when it wakes up it wakes up without the screen reader!
