How amazing, look forward to trying that Stephen. Give us some feedback
Maurice on how you get on.

Yes you can increase the Talks volume over the 10 that is already there.
Go into the Talks settings, Press Options, Arrow down to Audio Settings,
Press select, Select on Phone speaker. Now go down to the volume factor
and change it from 100% to maybe 125% or 150%. You also want to use a
different version of Eloquence to see if that helps some.

Mauric
The loudspeaker and ear speaker button on-screen will be hit and miss
until you get used to it. a sighted person or even one like myself with
a little vision can directly hit the button. However, Denise and Allan
may have additional support for you there. As for volume, 10 is the
maximum and yes the volume is not great in loud environmental noise.
However, when on a call and if not using the external speaker have you
tried increasing the volume using the volume up key on the side? Finally
you want to know a little more about the keys on the bottom row. On the
extreme left on the bottom row is the function key which when hit once
will give you a number when in a text message or e-mail. If you want a
string of numbers as in a telephone number, then you can hit the key
twice write your number string and then hit twice again to return to
text. Next to the Function key and one in on the right is the Edit key.
This key is the Caps and caps lock key. Hit it once for an initial
capital letter and again hit twice if you want caps lock. To remove the
caps lock hit it twice. Next in we have the Talks key and as I said
pressing it twice will bring up the symbols keys for you, in other words
the characters. Once the symbols have been brought up you can press the
soft key 2 on screen and this will bring up emoticons. Unfortunately
these are not recognised by Talks so unless you want to use these forget
about them as you cannot use the Talks object viewer to label them
either. A sighted person can assist you with them however but if someone
responds with a similar emoticon, Talks will not recognise it. Now we
move over to the right of the space-bar. The first key is the @ sign
useful when writing an e-mail address and not having to go in to the
symbols window to select the @ sign. Next we have the ? mark and finally
there is a silent key. I do not know what it does - sorry!!! The @ key
when used in conjunction with the Edit key will produce a forward / and
the ? mark key when used with the Edit key will give you an ! mark. Do
remember that you can find out all about keys by using the Talks Training
Mode which is Talks key and Zero. This is a toggle key.
Just an after-thought, if external speaker is important to you then you
might give some thought to a very small external speaker which you could
plug in to the headphone socket.

Subject: [Talks] E6 and talks related questions.
Hi All.
Firstly apologies Eleanor for not responding to the N86 questions. I
was
out of the office and found that they had already been answered by the
time
I'd got back online.
I have 2 small questions.
1. Now I know you said that the Loud Speaker button
is
above key 2 and I do get it successfully occasionally but it's very
much
trial and error. Can you give me anymore guidance as how to do this more
successfully and is there a way of then returning to just using the
earpiece
(So To Speak".
2. Can anyone tell me what the keys that say Edit, CTRL,
Tilder,
Function and the key next to the spacebar on the righthand side that
says
nothing do.
3. One disadvantage I find with the E6 which I didn't have
with my N86 is the amount of volume I can get out of Talks. When I'm in
a
crowded place, I have to have the Talks volume on 8 or even 9 as the
speaker is on the back and there is only one. My N86 however was loud
enough for me on volume 5 or occasionally 6 - however it does have 2
speakers and they are on the side.
So, my question is, is there a way of increasing the talks volume
from
what it is set to. In other words, is Volume 10 the loudest or can this
be
increased anymore.
Thanks.
Maurice Press.
