The signed over the All thing is one thing that is suggested on most web
site that deal with Symbian software. So this is well known. This is also in
the Talks release notes too.
But anyway when you do a back up! This backs up most software and when you
restore from the back up! The software is also restored. It isn't installed,
it is restored from the back up. The only case from what I've noticed is if
you already have a package on the phone with the same name as what is in the
file that is being restored! The newer version will be retained on the
phone. So lets say you have Talks 5.20.3 on your phone then you do a back
up. Then you update the firmware and everything gets wiped out. So you
install Talks 5.22.3 on your phone. Then you do a restore of the back up
file. In this case, 5.22.3 will still be there after the restore and the
5.20.3 will not be restored being it is older.
Now keep in mind! This is only for some phones and not older phones and or
firmware. So some phones will behave differently and other will work as I
said. This will depend on the phone and the firmware on the phone. So
someone could have two different E72's and one will not work as listed above
and the other will work as listed above. It will come down to the firmware.
The only time I've noticed this is if I was using the phone to restore from
a back up. I don't use PC Suite to do back ups.

I resolved this matter by finding that software certificate was at signed
and not all!!! Now I never expected this but perhaps you would clarify
the following for me which would explain my problem and the fact that I
did not realise to change the software certificate from signed.
When I updated the E71 firmware I did a back-up so when the firmware was
updated, I used my back-up to put everything back on the phone. This
meant I did not have to reinstall programs at the time. Now when one gets
a phone one of the things we have to do is to change the software
certification, this would suggest to me that when a firmware update is
performed the software certification is again at signed. How then is it
possible that in the back-up all programs get installed automatically?
