both my e72-2 handsets have internet radio.
I soled the updated one as the partial loss of accessibility following the
firmware update was very frustrating.
the firmware in the e72-2 handset I still own is
51.018
and I'm using talks version
5.20.3.
I've had talks for many years now and have used it on at least 5 different
handsets and it's been a long time since I had such a stable accessible
mobile solution. I think my old n95 with talks would have been the next
best mobile solution though I did have to reboot the phone every 2 days.
With the e72-2 I reboot the phone once per week.
Most of the help system works though there are some help pages or files
talks won't read but most it will.
I used to be the first to update to the latest phone firmware and have
regretted every update in the past 18 months or so. The current handset I
own was updated once and the symbol table would no longer work. Nuance
fixed that problem in the following talks release which also made the help
system usable again. I tried later versions of talks but found for several
reasons the talks version I am using together with the firmware makes a
grate mobile package.
By the way the e72-2 is the same as the e72 but it has the band used by
Australian and American mobile service providers, I think it is either the
800 or 1900 megs range.
When you are setting up shortcuts there are ones for the fm radio only and
others that let you choose. if you can't access the internet radio you are
probably using one of these shortcuts. From memory the shortcut you can
select then configuring the rocker keys is for fm radio only
if you go in to the media file and click on the radio icon there you should
hear talks say select radio type. pressing select will open the fm radio,
down arrow followed by select will open the internet radio. You may need to
use a different shortcut key for the radio.

Bernard, which FW is on your E72? You have an E72 which you have upgraded
to
latest fw and cannot work, does this phone have Internet Radio in it?

It's just I am very happy with the phone, the firmware and the version of
talks I am using. To have an email message read I just open the message.
The browser works as it should and does not keep saying browser every time
it's opened. When I have to select radio type talks won't say the choices
but as fm radio is the first choice and internet radio is the second talks
not speaking the options is not a problem.
As everything is working well and I don't need those smiley icons as talks
does not say what they are anyway I can't see any advantage in upgrading
the
firmware or for that matter upgrading to the latest talks as it won't give
me access to any application I currently can not use now.
I boot the phone once per week and the battery life is two to three days
with everything on that is bluetooth wifi and so on.
I can't remember when I had a more stable accessible phone with everything
working as it should.
I'm sure one day I will have to upgrade for some reason or other but I
hope
it's a long time coming. I use the internet radio daily through wifi and
have no problems searching for stations and adding them to the saved
stations list, this is also true in the fm radio option.
When a text message comes in talks says I have one new message I press
softkey1 for show then talks tells me who the message is from and the
phone
number, I press down arrow and the message is read fully.
Why would I want to make changes that could put my contentment at risk?

That is really interesting, I am in the UK and cannot get the update. I
know Bernard on the list has an E72 but equally I recall that he was
reluctant to take the firmware updates because of his experience.

Hello list! Eleanor wrote:
it is 7 point sometHing. There was someone on the list saying it was 8

On my E72, the newest firmware available is 081.003. I have not updated
to it yet, but I would be very interested in hearing how it works with
Talks.
