I will respond to 2 of your questions and attempt to answer a 3rd question.
However, I do not use the music player much, only for podcasts that I
download and I have no difficulty in accessing the podcast using Talks.
As regards your messages and missed calls, this is not in the manner you may
be used to from previous Nokia phones. In this instance you have an icon
indicator which pops up on your touch screen when you have a message or
missed call. Talks reads this icon as a number. The icon is directly below
the profile icon so if there is a missed call or new message and the icon is
on screen you would lreach it either by arrowing down from the profile icon
or otherwise find it on the left of your touch screen using your finger. It
would be on the left of screen in the region of the bottom quarter. There
is an icon below it for Edit screen so if you touch that first then slide
your finger upwards and you will come to it. However, if there are no
missed calls or no new messages this icon will not be on screen. There is
no need to have to use the object viewer to label the icon as I say it is
recognised by talks in terms of a numeric value. Now if say you have 3
missed calls and no new messages and you tap or select the icon to open it,
then my experience is that Talks does not readily read the screen so you
will have to use your finger on the touch screen. You may get a message,
sorry I cannot remember the exact wording right now, it may say remove all
events from screen and there is a touch screen soft key one for yes and soft
key 2 for no. I usually delete it and then go to the Log and find out the
numbers of who tried to call me. If the person is in my Contacts then I get
their name but if not I get the telephone number and if as in the UK they
opt to hide their number then I get Private Number which is meaningless.
Again in the case where you have a message and you activate the icon by
touch or selecting it using the select on your phone, within the area of the
arrow keys, then the message opens and you can read it. If there are 2
messages or more, then one message will open but you will then need to go to
Messaging and Inbox to read your new messages.
To access the web you probably hear Talks say Browser. Then if you press
Talks key followed by a down arrow you can read the screen as in the case of
an e-mail and in the case of Google for example you can simply use the down
arrow to access the screen and then the usual numerical keys to navagate the
web. The web is very accessable but the e-mail is tedious at present being
converted to text only which means you cannot access links or attachments.
However, a work around is not to delete that e-mail with attachments and
links and to access it later on your PC. I understand that the Talks
developers are working on e-mail access so you have that to look forward to
soon.
As regards your access point, I found this a bit tedious at first too. When
you open the Web Browser then touch the screen in the area of soft key 2 and
this will bring up 3 rows of icons, all of these icons are again touch only
but you can arrow across each row and arrow down rob by row. There are a
total of 12 icons on 3 rows so 4 icons on each row. I think the Settings
icon is 7 or 8 on the second row but I have not got the phone beside me
right now. Once you are on Settings which you can get to as I said using
the down arrow key once and then arrowing right along the line of icons,
press select on it. You are now at all the Settings Options and you can
navagate these in the usual manner by using the arrow keys. Check there
regarding setting an access point. For some reason I was not getting this
sorted correctly myself recently while at my Niece's home when I wanted to
set an access point using her broadband connection. She is sighted and did
this for me but it even took her a few goes to sort it correctly. I think
it is something you should be ablel to manage using Talks.
Hopefully others on the list will respond to your queries also.
Eleanor
