Hi Eleanor
I think I saw a button in quick office for up-dating it, not
sure but perhaps that is worth a try.
Regards
Adrien

OK at this stage today I have the time and date set and
software certificate to None. Now when I install Talks do I
choose 10 day demo? I have a feeling I heard on the list
where once one has the 10 day demo then it cannot be used
again. what then when I install Talks, maybe I will just
get a message licence has expired. Incidentally I do not
know what was going on re the Talks and C5 when I first
tried to install the Talks, talks worked fine and I could
make a call but if someone phoned me it did not work. Then
like I said, I thought in the shop the phone was faulty so I
asked the lady to give me another phone so she took a bran
new one out jof the box and we installed Talks together with
her sighted help. Again the same thing happened so she
kindly said maybe there was a batch of bad phones and took
out yet another phone. Same thing happened again so I had
to ask her to send the phone to Vodafone as it was Vodafone
phone and get them to install the Talks. Got it back in
about a week and then as I said upgraded to the Premium.
Hope wo't have problems like this again this time. If I do
I will ask on list again before sending the phone off. It
will be interesting to see if the Quick Office has sorted
itself. Will be very disappointed after all this if it does
not. Thanks for all help and suggestions.

Yes you can try restoring the license code or just
manually type it in.
There isn't any difference between Talks Standard and
Talks premium as
far as the install file. They are the same. The difference
is the
license code and what it will let you access in Talks.
Sounds like it
could have been an Eloquence issue. Not saying that was
the case but
some newer phone had issues with Eloquence running at the
old 11KHZ.

To be honest this is a Vodafone V
C5. I was unable to install Talks Premium on it. Thought
the phone
was faulty. The shop let me try about 3 different phones
but no luck.
Talks would install but then I could not make calls. All
very
strange. Then i would remove Talks and it was possible to
make calls.
In the end I had to send in the phone to Vodafone to have
Talks
standard installed. It worked fine then. After that I
upgraded to the Talks Premium without a problem.
Now maybe I will have similar problems later when I try
and install
my Talks Premium. I have my licence number in any case. I
presume
once I have installed Talks I will simply restore
registration. All
such a nuisance as it is time consuming.

Since you already did the hard reset this question is
kind of
useless. I was wondering what version of quickoffice you
were using
before the reset?
What
version is on the phone after the reset? IF the version
that is on
the phone is older than the version that you were using
before the
reset you might be able to reinstall that newer version
and that may
install the license manager. I am guessing that the
version on the
phone after the reset is an older version and is not
licensed so is
limited as to what you can do whith it. IF this is true
than as I
said you may be able to reinstall the newer version and
the license
manager may come along with that.

It is built in to the phone so what do you suggest from
here. I am
just trying the soft re-set again right now.

Did you try arrowing to Quick Office from within the
Menu and not
through the App. Manager and then pressing CLEAR? Quick
Office may
be built into the phone and if that is the case, you
will not be
able to remove it.
More then likely even if you did a *#7370# to format
the phone it
wouldn't fix the QuickOffice issue. Yes you would have
to install
Talks unless you had it on the memory card and it
happend to start
back up after a format.
I'm guessing the System folder was in the Data folder
on the C:
drive C:\Data\System? I can't pitchure the phone
letting you delete
the Main System folder on drive C:\System. I would
expect the phone
to have many more issues then what you are having if
you even tried
deleting that folder. As far as that goes you can't
even get to the
C:\System folder using the built in file manager.

Subject: [Talks] Ideas Please Quick Office
While this is not a Talks question, I want to use my
phone to read
Word documents and as I am using Talks to do so I feel
it is at
least related to Talks.
I deleted a folder off my phone memory called System.
My phone is
Nokia C5.00 Deleting the System folder means that I
removed my
licence for Quick Office/Word.
Now if I go to Installed Files and to Office, Quick
Office is
there but I cannot delete it even though I have gone
tried to do
so. Strange thing is that if I go to Application
Manager Quick
Office is not there so I cannot delete it through
Application
Manager. Now I cannot reinstall Quick Office as it is
there
already. If I try and open a Word or doc document, I
get an error
licence Manager not installed and I am asked if I want
to install.
I say yes and this leads me to Quick Office on the
Web. There I
get an error 404 and another Error saying Page not
found.
I have been in touch with Quick Office but the person
there is
telling me to remove the current Quick Office but I
cannot.
Finally I did do a soft re-set but that did not change
things.
I suppose the reality is that I might have to do a
reset Factory
settings but I would not be happy if i did that and
the problem
did not get resolved. that would also mean Talks
having to be
reinstalled so I am trying to avoid this.
Any ideas.
Eleanor
