SCHEDULE FOR BAUMA

March 9, Thursday: See the Cemetery de Recoleta where Carlos Gardel and Evita 
are buried, go to marvelous and famous cafe Viejo Tortoni for snack and 
capuccino. Visit the beautiful Teatro Colon. Milonga at a traditional place 
in BA at night.

March 10, Friday: Visit  San Telmo, where tango music was born. Beautiful 
Italian neaighborhoods, coffee and Italian gelato in the Puerto Madero. Class 
on etiquette of the milongas, all the cues and body language, etc. Go to the 
master in the work of “fileteados”, the traditional painted signs that 
decorated tango halls 150 years ago. Design your sign. At night, we will go 
to a tango class with Yvonne, a sizzling and great teacher, in her tango 
salon, and stay for the milonga with Argentine friends.

March 11, Saturday
Visit La Boca, an original tango neighborhood, have Spanish class of simple 
phrases and words, wine and empanadas with friends at a lovely place, class 
of “lunfardo” learning what the lyrics mean in the slang of original 
immigrants, traditional tango salon night dancing with friends. Order a tango 
CD with your favorite songs put onto a disc from a man who specializes in any 
choice of tango music, and makes the CD. 

Sunday March 12 Congreso begins.

Sunday March 19 Congreso ends. This day you will want to sleep late, and in 
the afternoon we will do an architect’s tour of the city with Alejandro, 
learning the fascinating histories of the varied and exquisite buildings. 
Possibly a wine tasting at a wine shop; we are currently trying to find the 
right place.

Monday, March 20
If you stay the extra day, we can go to Tigre, a trip into the delta and 
bayou country outside of BA.

Which days to you plan to attend? The cost of the tour is $150 and does not 
include restaurant or bar fees, entrance fees, or tips. There is an extra 
boat and train fee for Tigre, and a $1.00 per day per person  for taxi 
transportation instead of bus or subway.


We are staying at the Hotel Castelar, and suggest you stay there as well, as 
we have a discounted room rate and it is easier to leave in a group and meet.
